With spring break right around the corner, you may be looking to plan some fun activities with friends or family to make the most out of your days off.
There are plenty of things to do in and around Binghamton that could make for an enjoyable day trip, family outing or even a solo day for some peace and quiet.
So make some time for fun on your spring break to-do list. With everything from hikes and zoos to museums and markets, here’s a list of seven Binghamton-area activities, one for each day of the week, that are ideal for your 2026 spring break bucket list.
Visit a local museum
Binghamton is home to several museums filled with an abundance of interesting history that could make for both a family-friendly activity or a great solo day. Here’s a list of local museums to choose from, or you can make a day of it and visit all three.
Spend a day at an escape room
If you’re up for puzzles, looking for clues and participating in a group challenge, going to an escape room may just be the perfect activity for a group of friends or your family.
Xscapes in Binghamton is located within the Southern Tier Independence Center and offers five different escape rooms varying by the amount of time they take to complete and how difficult they are. Booking is required in advance.
Eat at a new local restaurant
Binghamton is a hub for unique, local restaurants, some of which are fairly new to the area. If you haven’t had a chance to yet, here are some new local restaurants to try out this spring break.
Hike through the Binghamton University Nature Preserve
The Binghamton University Nature Preserve is ideal for those looking for a relaxing day spent outside when the weather is warmer. With 190 acres of land, including 20 acres of wetland, according to the BU website, the preserve offers hiking trails that allow for the viewing of an abundance of different species, perfect for families and friends or just a lone hike.
Try out the new indoor zoo experience at AAP
Though Animal Adventure Park is not completely open until April 25, the park did introduce its new indoor zoo experience in 2026, which offers year-round fun for the whole family.
The indoor experience offers three dozen species, including capybaras, sloths, rhinos and giraffes, along with animal feeding, gem mining and a gift shop. The experience requires reservations and is open through April 12.
Shop around at the Broome County Regional Farmer’s Market
Being one of the only local markets open year-round, the Broome County Regional Farmer’s Market offers a taste of summer and an abundance of local goods, perfect for a solo shopping trip on a Saturday morning.
Relax at a local park
In the Binghamton area, there are lots of scenic parks that allow for picnics, biking, hiking, walking, and gorgeous views. Here are a couple of great parks to choose from.
