Broadway Ave. on Evansville's West Side to be closed starting April 6

EVANSVILLE — Broadway Avenue will be closed to all traffic between Posey County Line Road and Old Mt. Vernon Road for four months beginning at 7 a.m. on April 6, according to the Vanderburgh County Engineering Office.

The closure is expected to last until August 7, pending weather conditions.

The county said the closure is necessary to replace the existing bridge on Broadway Avenue. The signed detour route will be South Posey County Line Road to Old Mt. Vernon Road.

The bridge in place now was built nearly a century ago, the county said. Its replacement is being funded through the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program, which pays 50% of the construction costs.
