After a highly chippy 88-71 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday that drew national attention as a result of numerous physical altercations, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever (6-5) travel to northern California for the first time as the team takes on fellow former Hawkeye Kate Martin and the Golden State Valkyries (5-6) from Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif.
Indiana enters tonight’s contest on a two-game winning streak, which started with the Fever’s June 14 victory over the New York Liberty in Clark’s return game that saw the star erupt for 32 points.
While Clark’s offensive production took a relative dip in Tuesday night’s win over the Sun with only 20 points, the star guard is still averaging 21.3 points per contest on 44.7% shooting from the field, 40% from 3-point territory, and 75.9% free-throw accuracy in just six games played this season.

As for the Golden State Valkyries, the team has had its ups and downs so far in the franchise’s inaugural WNBA season, with ninth-year veteran forward Kayla Thornton leading the team in scoring with 14.6 points per contest on 38.3% shooting from the field, 24.7% from 3-point territory, and 83.3% free-throw accuracy.
Although Golden State only averages 77.5 points per contest, the team’s balanced offensive distribution has allowed for six players to be on pace for 10 or more points per game.
Martin, Clark’s former teammate for four seasons at Iowa, has been utilized as a sharp-shooting guard off the bench by the Valkyries so far in 2025. Martin paces for just 5.6 points per game on 33.3% from the floor, 32.3% from 3-point territory, and 77.4% from the charity stripe in 15:36 minutes per contest through 10 games.
