Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton recently played a game of basketball for the first time since his injury in the 2025 NBA Finals.
Here’s what to know.

Tyrese Haliburton gives injury update
The former Iowa State guard posted on his X account Wednesday, April 8, that he played 5-on-5 for the first time since June 2025, when he tore his right Achilles tendon just over seven minutes into Game 7 against the eventual champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The injury led the Pacers to keep him out for the entire 2025-26 season. In his absence, the Pacers are 18-61, holding the NBA’s second-worst record and on pace for their lowest winning percentage in franchise history.
What has Tyrese Haliburton changed during recovery?
Haliburton has seemingly progressed quickly in his rehab, telling LeBron James in January that his body felt great and that he was ramping up to 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 work with the Pacers’ training staff. He also said his recovery has focused on becoming more physical, noting at the time that he was about 30 pounds heavier than he was in June 2025.
The 26-year-old was hit with a setback in February after being diagnosed with shingles, which kept him away from the team for nearly a month and slowed his progress. However, based on his most recent X post, we can assume he is trending in the right direction in his recovery.
