This $1.45 million modern Ankeny home offers a saltwater pool, app-controlled shower heads

A six-bedroom, six-bathroom, modern home for sale on Briarwood Drive that appears to glow after dark when the lights are turned on catches the eye when driving into Ankeny’s Kimberly Estates.

“There are many gorgeous houses in that development, but this one is unique. It’s got some really beautiful features to it,” Realtor Traci Jennings explained.

Located in northeast Ankeny and covering a third of an acre footprint, the 1½ story home is ready for summer entertaining around a heated saltwater pool that faces a pool house equipped with an outdoor fireplace and television hookup.

“To put a pool in after the construction of a home is not easy,” Jennings explained. “To have it already there and ready to go, with a diving board, it’s a lot of fun.”

The home, listed at $1.45 million, has a heated garage that provides room for three vehicles and connects to a mudroom and indoor storage lockers.

Inside, the main level has been designed with family gatherings in mind, creating a living space opposite an electric fireplace and includes a closet hidden behind an unassuming wall decoration.

The large kitchen adds two islands, high-end appliances, a walk-in pantry, and a formal dining area that can open to a covered, outdoor patio looking down on the pool.

A primary bedroom on the main floor includes a standing steam closet appliance to air out clothes and steam out wrinkles. The ensuite bathroom’s wet room features a soaking tub and a Moen showerhead system, controlled by a phone app to help remember favorite temperatures, water strength, and faucet settings for each person.

Next to the front foyer, a home office sits behind sliding doors, a motif continued throughout the house. A second office is in use on the upper floor, but could be converted back into a bedroom, joining the two others on that level.

Each step of the floating staircase is subtly illuminated, and the final stairs lead to a mixed-use loft space at the top of the home.

“It could be where the kids have their toys. It could be another little office. It could be the fitness room. It’s technically the size of a bedroom,” Jennings explained.

On the lower level, joining two more bedrooms, a wet bar can comfortably host six guests and is upgraded with a wine refrigerator and beer taps connected to a kegerator. From the bar stools, visitors can enjoy a home movie theater experience set up on the other side of the open room or take advantage of easy walk-out access to the pool, next to a convenient half bathroom and an area to hang towels.

Residency includes monthly $83 HOA fees and provides entry to the North Polk Community School District. The development is a six-minute drive to Costco, and provides quick connections to Ankeny, Ames, and the Des Moines metro. “You’re super close to the interstate,” Jennings said. “Everything is kind of all-in-one place.”

The home is listed at $1.45 million by Traci Jennings, team leader of the Jennings Real Estate Team at RE/MAX Real Estate Center. Contact Jennings at 515-291-8720 for more information and a private showing.
