Roland-Story softball player Keely Oberender and Nevada baseball player Jackson Burlage were voted the Ames Tribune female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of June 8-14.
Oberender won female Athlete of the Week with 47% of the vote.
She delivered at the plate for the Roland-Story softball team during its 10-9 upset victory over Class 2A No. 9 East Marshall on June 12.
Oberender went 3-for-4 with a double during the game. She scored twice and added three RBIs.
Burlage won male Athlete of the Week with 48% of the vote.
He had a big night with the bat for the Nevada baseball team during a 17-9 win over Dike-New Hartford on June 10. He also threw five solid innings in an 8-7 victory over South Hamilton on June 13.
Burlage went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI in the win over DNH and gave up two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks against South Hamilton. He also went 1-for-2 with two runs and a pair of walks on offense against the Hawks.
