Iowa State football has bragging rights — and the last laugh — over rival Kansas State.
The Cyclones defeated the Wildcats, 24-21, in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 23, marking their third straight victory over Kansas State.
After the victory, head coach Matt Campbell crashed the podium in the middle of Rocco Becht’s postgame press conference. Word got to Campbell that Kansas State athletics director Gene Taylor may have joked during a pep rally about Iowa State wearing different colors other than the official cardinal-and-gold color scheme.
Campbell jovially took the podium and requested for reporters to inquire why Iowa State sometimes wears the color black.
“We don’t really care what color we wear,” Campbell said in the video above. “It’s never been about a jersey color for us, it’s never been about any of that. It’s about team, togetherness and playing winning football.”
