One of the final roster battles taking place with cutdowns looming for the Jacksonville Jaguars is between defensive ends Danny Striggow and BJ Green.
And don’t take my word for it–Liam Coen said this was the case.
According to Mia O’Brien, Coen told the broadcast crew that Green vs. Striggow was a “final roster battle” taking place in the preseason finale against Miami.
Both Striggow and Green signed with the Jagaurs after this past April’s draft as undrafted rookies.
In the first two preseason games, Striggow has recorded four pressures, according to PFF, and made one sack. He also has two total tackles.
Green, meanwhile, has seven pressures in two games and three total tackles.
Each player also recorded a sack in the first half of the Miami game.
The evaluation, of course, goes beyond the preseason games, but for both players, it goes to show why they are in the mix for a roster spot.
Whoever wins this battle will presumably be the fifth defensive end on the roster behind Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, Dawuane Smoot, and Emmanuel Ogbah.
Rosters have to officially be trimmed to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon.
