While heavy snow was limited to pockets of Iowa on Sunday, March 15, the blizzard conditions from the storm caused problems throughout the state.
The heaviest snow fell in far northeastern Iowa and near the Quad Cities on the eastern border.
Interstate 35 was closed for 19 hours north of Ames and the majority of Interstate 80 was shut down well into Monday morning.

What is the forecast in Des Moines?
Monday in Des Moines will be mostly sunny, but temperatures will remain frigid. The high is expected to be near 19 degrees, and wind chills as low as 15 degrees below zero. Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 8 degrees and lingering northwest winds keeping wind chills near zero.
The next chance of snow in Des Moines will be on St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17.
Tuesday will be milder with increasing clouds and a 50% chance of snow developing in the afternoon, with highs near 32 degrees. Snow will taper off overnight with a low around 25 degrees.
