Seventy-seven workers will lose their jobs when a West Branch manufacturing plant closes Aug. 14, according to an Iowa Workforce Development notice.
Plastic Products Co., which opened the plant in 2001, is an employee-owned manufacturer of injection molded plastics, ceramics and metals, with 10 plants in seven states, according to its website.
The West Branch plant is its only in Iowa. The company, headquartered in Minnesota, did not immediately answer requests for comment.
The plant’s closing will leave a vacancy in the West Branch industrial park adjacent to Interstate 80, home to facilities for several companies, including Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble.
It represents the fifth mass manufacturing layoff this year in Iowa.
All told, 909 manufacturing employees have been laid off in 2026, according to IWD logs, with Whirlpool Corp.’s Amana plant accounting for 589 lost jobs.
