For most, if not all, of the 2025 college football season, the Iowa Hawkeyes were hovering around the cut-line for the top 25 rankings across most outlets. Iowa would work its way into the rankings, fall out, then climb back into the polls in what felt like a never-ending cycle.
With the season concluded, the final USA TODAY Sports NCAA 1-136 Re-Rank is out, and the Hawkeyes earned themselves a spot within the final rankings as one of the top 25 teams in the country. In the final rankings, Iowa is just inside the polls at No. 24 with a 9-4 record.
What is curious about these rankings is where the Vanderbilt Commodores, the team Iowa beat head-to-head in the ReliaQuest Bowl, are ranked. While they do have a 10-3 overall record, Iowa took down the Commodores, yet Vanderbilt finds itself ranked No. 18 in the rankings.
Sitting atop the rankings, without question, are the 16-0 Indiana Hoosiers, who won the national championship. Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Georgia, in that order, round out the top five. Elsewhere, the Big Ten sees Ohio State at No. 6, USC at No. 19, and Michigan at No. 22.
