Iowa basketball vs. Washington: Big Ten betting odds, prediction

The Iowa Hawkeyes continue their West Coast swing with one more matchup before heading back to Iowa City. After taking down Oregon, the Hawkeyes get one more Pacific Northwest Big Ten opponent late Wednesday evening.

The Washington Huskies (12-10, 4-7 Big Ten) see the Iowa Hawkeyes (16-5, 6-4 Big Ten) come to Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Washington, for a late-night Big Ten showdown.

Iowa vs. Washington prediction, pick

This game is going to tell us a lot about the Iowa Hawkeyes this year. It is a very late game after they have been out on the West Coast for a few days. Iowa is in the midst of a four-game winning streak. This is a game that tells you what a team is made of.

Iowa is the better team on paper. They have the talent, and they have the confidence. But avoiding a stumble here in a game bound to be a fist fight is where they can make some strides and grow under Ben McCollum.

Washington isn’t going to roll over for Iowa. Despite losing six of the last nine games, just one was a blowout. The Huskies played Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Nebraska, and Illinois to 10 points or less. This team is better than their record, and Iowa has to be read,y or they could get stunned.

The Huskies aren’t a great shooting team in general, making just 44.9% from the field and 31.8% from three-point range. Rather than Bennett Stirtz putting on the Superman cape on offense, Iowa needs to win this game with defense and efficiency from a well-rounded offensive attack.

I think that’s what we get. It won’t be easy. But this game is one to make note of if Iowa wins. It’s the type of game that quietly spurs on a culture change and keeps things rolling.

Prediction: Iowa 74, Washington 68

Best Bet: Iowa -1.5
