Dowling Catholic alum Teagan Kavan and the Texas softball team are playing in the Women’s College World Series for the third straight year.
Texas (47-11) clinched its spot in the 2026 WCWS with a 5-0 win vs. No. 19 Arizona State on May 24. The Longhorns dropped the first game to Arizona State on May 22 before rallying to take the following two games against the Sun Devils.
Texas, the 2025 national champion, entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed after winning its first SEC softball tournament championship over No. 1 Alabama.

How to watch Teagan Kavan, Texas softball in the 2026 Women’s College World Series
If Texas beats Tennessee in Game 2 on Thursday, May 28, the Longhorns advance to the winner’s bracket to face the Game 1 winner of Mississippi State-Texas Tech on Saturday, May 30. A loss to the Lady Volunteers would send Texas into Game 5 on Friday, May 29, against the Game 1 loser from the Mississippi State-Texas Tech matchup, and every game from there becomes an elimination game.
The 2026 WCWS finals best-of-three series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 3, according to ESPN. Here’s the full schedule.

Who is Teagan Kavan?
Kavan is a junior pitcher on the Texas Longhorns softball team. Kavan grew up in West Des Moines and is a 2023 graduate of Dowling Catholic High School, according to her LinkedIn. She did not pitch for her high school program, but rather played exclusively for her club team.
She has been a key piece for her team since joining the program, earning WCWS All-Tournament honors in 2024 before taking home the Most Outstanding Player award in 2025. She’s also piled up national recognition as a multi-time All-American, including from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, D1Softball.com and Softball America.
