Kadyn Proctor and Iowa fans have had a lot of disagreements over the past few years.
Proctor has committed to and then de-committed from the Iowa football program twice following a successful high school career at Southeast Polk High School. The former five-star prospect opted to go play at Alabama both times after leaving the Hawkeye program. He’s not exactly a fan favorite among Hawkeye faithful.
But his recent take on one of the greatest Hawkeye athletes of all time is one that almost every Iowa fan will have no argument with.
On Wednesday, Proctor spoke to the media at the SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Georgia. He’s there on behalf of the Alabama Crimson Tide football program as one of head coach Kalen DeBoer’s representatives. Proctor spoke about the best athletes to come out of the state of Iowa and had this to say about Caitlin Clark.
“There’s talks about who’s the best athlete to come out of Iowa and I don’t want anybody to say my name. I want them to say Caitlin Clark because the things I’ve seen her do is crazy,” Proctor said.
Proctor wants it to be known that Clark, who played high school basketball at Dowling Catholic in Des Moines, is the best athlete to come out of Iowa and one of the best basketball players he’s ever seen.
It’s unclear what Proctor’s goal is here. Maybe he’s trying to score some brownie points with Iowa fans following years of backlash over his two decommitment decisions. Maybe he’s trying to make headlines.
Or maybe he just really wanted to let the world know how good Caitlin Clark is, a fact that’s hardly debatable. Regardless of the objective, history was made. Iowa fans and Kadyn Proctor have finally agreed upon something.
