Shortly before 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 28, the Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department were called to investigate a report of a potential person in the Des Moines River near the SE Sixth Street bridge.
First responders assisted a child in the water to safety. The DMFD Water Emergency Team was deployed to search for an adult male who was reportedly also in the water.
The search was suspended around 7 p.m. for the evening before it will start up again Sunday.
