June 5 is National Doughnut Day, and unfortunately, one of Indianapolis’ favorite doughnut shops is a little bit harder to get to due to construction.
But fear not. Let’s break down how to get there so you can support a local spot on National Doughnut Day.
Long’s Bakery has been serving up delicious homemade doughnuts in Indy since 1955 and is one of many businesses impacted by the 16th Street Bridge closure. The bridge closed June 1 and is projected to remain closed for the next two years.
“We appreciate your patience, your continued support and every extra mile you travel to visit us,” the business wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for supporting a local Indianapolis tradition!”
Here’s how to get there — and don’t forget to bring your wallet as the business is cash only.
How to get to Long’s Bakery with 16th St. bridge closure
The 16th Street Bridge closed on June 1, 2026 and Long’s took to Facebook to share information on how to get to their location.
“If you’re planning a visit to our 16th Street location, please be aware that traffic patterns have changed and you may need to use the posted detour routes shown in the map below,” the business wrote on Facebook.
The detour map from the city recommends those coming from the east side to turn off West 16th Street at Indiana Avenue and take that to West 10th Street to cross the White River. Then take N. White River Parkway Drive West to West 16th Street, where you will then be able to get to Long’s Bakery.
Detour signs are posted so drivers should be guided where to go, but this new traffic pattern may cause delays and add time to your commute, so keep that in mind.
