Vote now: Who was the Courier & Press fall sports athlete of the week for September 15-20?

There were several standout individual performances across Southwestern Indiana this week. Who gets your vote?

Castle golfer Deeya Patel was voted the Courier & Press fall sports Athlete of the Week from Sept. 15-20. The sophomore was the individual sectional champion at The Farm with a 4-over 74 as Castle won its fourth straight team title. Patel now leads the No. 17 Knights into the regional this weeked at Country Oaks in Montgomery.

She received 5,064 votes from nearly 11,000 total cast. Cohen Havill of Memorial was the runner-up with 2,061.

Each week you can vote for the Courier & Press fall sports Athlete of the Week — football has its own separate poll. Below you will find the poll and brief info on each performance. You can vote as often as you’d like until 10 a.m. CT Friday morning.

Here are the nominees from Sept. 15-20:

Cobe Arruffat, Harrison: The senior had five goals and three assists across the Warriors’ first three matches of the week.

Ellie Barron, Day School: The sophomore had six goals and one assist in three matches, including wins over Barr-Reeve and North Posey, for the Eagles.

Cohen Havill, Memorial: The senior forward had three goals and one assist in three victories, including one against nationally top-ranked St. Xavier (Ky.).

Carter Payne, Heritage Hills: The senior had four goals in three matches, including a hat trick against Mount Vernon, plus was 7 of 7 on extra points and seven touchbacks versus Washington in football.

Libby Ryan, North: The senior outside hitter had 59 kills (.369 hitting percentage) and eight blocks across 12 sets as the Huskies improved to 17-0.

Corinne Stevens, Gibson Southern: The senior had a hat trick in a win over Mount Vernon, plus one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win over No. 8 Forest Park.

Madeline Tuggle, Forest Park: The senior had 39 kills and 42 digs across three victories for the Rangers.

Morgan Wannemuehler, Mater Dei: The senior forward had five goals for the Wildcats in victories over Reitz and Heritage Hills.

Ella Weatherholt, North Posey: The senior had 36 kills, 12 serving aces and 53 digs across three victories for the Vikings.
