An overheight truck hit a bridge and sign on US-23 in Hartland Township on Sept. 25, leading to a crash with no injuries.
Deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 1:40 p.m. to a crash involving a commercial truck that struck the Crouse Road overpass bridge on US-23.
According to LCSO, the driver of the truck — which is used to haul dumpsters — was a 31-year-old Lansing resident. He was northbound on US-23 when the tilting mechanism on the truck, which had not been lowered, struck a sign attached to the bridge, then the bridge itself.
The sign fell and crashed into a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 27-year-old Linwood resident. Both drivers were uninjured, according to LCSO.
LCSO posted to social media Sept. 26 that US-23 in the area of the crash will remain one lane until the Michigan Department of Transportation completes an investigation. The overpass bridge is closed until further notice.
