There were several standout individual performances across Southwestern Indiana this week. Who gets your vote?
Each week you can vote for the Courier & Press Athlete of the Week — football typically has a separate poll, but we’re including them here with only two area teams left. Below you will find the poll and brief info on each performance. You can vote as often as you’d like until 10 a.m. CT Friday morning.
Jaliyah Farmer, Harrison: The freshman had an impressive first week – 16 points and five assists vs. Floyd Central, 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals vs. Mount Vernon, and 18 points, 19 steals, and 7 assists vs. Vincennes Rivet.
Zach Foster, Gibson Southern: The senior quarterback had 221 total yards and a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes in a 17-14 sectional championship win over Mater Dei.
Addison Jones, Barr-Reeve: The senior had 17 kills and 12 digs for the Vikings in a five-set victory over Benton Central to win the Class 2A state championship. Jones was also named the winner of the Mental Attitude Award.
Millee LeRoy, North Knox: The senior only had six points and three assists but made the biggest play of the game – a go-ahead three from the wing with 3.2 seconds left – in a 48-47 win at No. 1 Washington.
Madison Parrish, South Knox: The senior had a game-high 20 points in a victory over Eastern Greene to open the season.
Dalton Pledger, Heritage Hills: The senior had 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns, plus six total tackles on defense, in a 38-8 sectional championship win over Jasper.
Jayden Scott, Castle: The senior had a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds in a win at North Posey and 24 points in a win at Jeffersonville.
Maddy Shirley, Central: The senior averaged 22.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 steals against Gibson Southern and Carmel. The USI commit had 30 points and 12 boards against the latter.
