Vote for Courier & Press Athlete of the Week for May 25-June 1, presented by Orthopaedic Associates

There were several standout individual performances across Southwestern Indiana this week. Who gets your vote?

Each week, you can vote for the Courier & Press Athlete of the Week, presented by Orthopaedic Associates. Below you will find the poll for May 25-June 1 and brief information on each performance. You can vote as often as you’d like until 10 a.m. CT Sunday morning.

Castle boys 4×800 relay: The team of Ethan Morris, Nathan Whitacre, Austin Carlile and Dane Kramer set a regional meet record with a time of 7:53.16. The previous record was set in 2017.

Emma Dilger, Memorial tennis: The junior delivered at 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to help the Tigers win the semi-state championship over Providence.

Carter Fuhs, Northeast Dubois baseball: The junior was 3-for-8 with two RBIs across three games and allowed three hits with 12 strikeouts in a sectional semifinal win over Evansville Christian.

Crewe Hasenour, Gibson Southern baseball: The junior was 5-for-10 with two doubles and three runs, including the go-ahead two-run double in the sectional championship against Southridge, in three games.

Richard Hilaire, Harrison track & field: The senior was part of two regional records in the 100 (10.54) and 4×100 relay (41.50) for the Warriors, who won the team championship.

Jayden Jones, Bosse track & field: The junior was a double state qualifier in the 110 hurdles (14.84) and 300 hurdles (39.31). The latter was less than a second off his school record time in the sectional and earned him the regional title.

De’Janay Layne, North track & field: The senior was a double regional champion in the 100 (11.86) and 200 (24.40) with the former setting a regional meet record. She also qualified for state in the 4×400 relay.

Max Miller, Mater Dei baseball: The senior was 4-for-10 with two extra-base hits, including a go-ahead triple in the sectional semifinal, and eight RBIs in three victories for the Wildcats. Also pitched 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts in the final against North Posey.

North boys 4×400 relay: The team of Darian Walker, Cole McBride, De’Amontey Layne and Dade Waters set a regional meet record with a winning time of 3:18.17. The previous record was set in 1993.

Addy Philips, Wood Memorial: The junior was 4-for-6 with three home runs, one double, three runs and seven RBIs in two sectional victories for the Trojans.

Preston Seidl, Castle baseball: The junior pitcher was elite in the sectional semifinal against No. 3 North with six hits allowed, one run and 12 strikeouts on 121 pitches in 6 1/3 innings. The Knights lost in extra innings.

Audrey Seiler, Tecumseh softball: The sophomore allowed only four hits and one run to pair with 44 strikeouts across 17 innings in three sectional victories for the Braves.

Madison Thomas, Memorial softball: The senior was 5-for-11 with two home runs and seven RBIs across three sectional victories, including a walk-off double to beat Mount Vernon, for the Tigers.

Katherine Woebkenberg, Jasper track & field: The sophomore set a regional meet record by clearing 12 feet, 6 inches – also a new school record.
