Two Notre Dame stars achieve unanimous All-American status on Thursday

It was a banner year for two Notre Dame stars, running back Jeremiyah Love and cornerback Leonard Moore.

They each got plenty of national recognition, Love winning the Doak Walker Award and Moore being a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Both of them had gotten plenty of All-American nods, and on Thursday a massive accomplishment for both of them by being named to the first-team FWAA All-American’s.

With that both Love and Moore placed on five of the major outlets first-team, and thus become unanimous All-Americans. As Tyler Horka reported on Wednesday, as a whole, Notre Dame only trails Alabama in most unanimous selections, as the Irish now have No. 39 compared to the Crimson Tide’s forty-one.

There is good news and bad with this announcement, as Notre Dame will be bidding Love farewell, as he declared for the NFL draft earlier this week. That was the bad, but the good is that Moore will be returning for at least one more season, and could achieve some of his bigger personal goals as well, like winning the Thorpe.

Congratulations to Love and Moore, as both of them have not entrenched themselves into Notre Dame football history.
