Mishawaka mayor to speak at 1st District Council member's town hall

MISHAWAKA — Mayor Dave Wood will give a State of the City address during 1st District Common Council member Woody Emmons’ monthly town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at St. Bavo Parish, 501 W. Seventh St.

As The Tribune previously reported, during Wood’s formal State of the City address Thursday, April 30, he trumpeted the city’s successes, including:

● A 3.68% decrease in Part 1 crimes in 2025 compared to 2024.

● A new soft-covered salt barn, which Wood said has the capacity to hold a full season’s worth of road salt.

● Financial stability in the face of Senate Enrolled Act 1. Wood graded the city’s financial status as a C+.

● New construction projects on parks around the city, as well as an afforbable housing project.
