RICHMOND, IN — Richmond police are looking for 14-year-old Dredyn Williams, who has been missing since June 5.
Williams is described as about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, according to the police department’s Facebook post.
Williams voluntarily left his father’s home after getting into trouble, Det. Neal VanMiddlesworth said. He left without a phone, so police and Williams’ family have been unable to call him. However, police said he has called his family to let them know he is OK.
Officers have received several tips about where Williams might be, but none of the tips has been corroborated, and Williams remains a runaway, police said.
Richmond Police Department created a Facebook post on Tuesday — more than 10 days after Williams walked away from his home.
VanMiddlesworth explained the delay in the public notice by noting that when a child is missing and in danger or a victim of a crime, the department will immediately push out an alert to the community. Williams is not believed to be in danger, so the department waited in hopes that Williams would return home or he would be found.
If anyone has a tip about Williams’ location, police ask that they call the non-emergency line at 765-983-7247.
However, if anyone sees Williams, police ask that they call 911.
