This evening, No. 22 Notre Dame women’s basketball faces its biggest test of the 2025-26 season with a game in Storrs, Connecticut, against unanimous No. 1 UConn. The yearly rivalry game will air on FOX at 5 p.m. ET
The Irish have beaten the Huskies in their last three meetings, and the two storied programs have gone to battle 55 times prior to Monday’s game. UConn leads the all-time series 39-16.
Notre Dame is coming off a 79-66 loss to No. 10 Louisville Thursday, January 15, while the Huskies beat Villanova that same night 99-50 to move to 18-0 this season. The Irish are 12-5 with a 2-3 record against ranked opponents. UConn is 5-0 against ranked foes.

End of 3rd quarter: UConn 59, Notre Dame 35
The Huskies’ led by as many as 30 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Irish 27-12 in the period. Hannah Hidalgo only took one shot for the Irish, who were led by Cassandre Prosper’s six points.
Sarah Strong has clinched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, the latter contributing to the large 31-18 rebounding advantage UConn holds over Notre Dame.
3:38 left in the third quarter: UConn 52, Notre Dame 27
The Huskies are on an 18-2 run over the past four minutes and nine seconds. The Irish are struggling to get stops, and when they do, they’re struggling to capitalize on offense.
Sarah Strong leads all scorers with 14 points, and she leads the way with nine rebounds.
6:33 left in the third quarter: UConn 42, Notre Dame 25
The Huskies are currently on an 8-0 run over the last minute and 14 seconds, and they hold a 10-2 advantage over the Irish in the third quarter as a whole. Notre Dame has already turned the ball over three times this period.
UConn’s biggest strength is their depth, showcased by four different players scoring in this quarter alone.
Halftime: UConn 32, Notre Dame 23
Neither the Huskies nor the Irish scored in the final two minutes and 40 seconds of the first half, with UConn’s last bucket coming with 3:16 left in the second quarter. In the second period, the teams were tied at 16 apiece.
Hannah Hidalgo has officially continued her streak of 10-plus points in each game of her career, while Sarah Strong is nearing a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds. Each have played all 20 minutes of the game so far.
4:47 left in the 2nd quarter: UConn 28, Notre Dame 16
The Irish are keeping pace with the Huskies in the second quarter, only at a 12-9 advantage in the period. Notably, UConn has already attempted 11 3-pointers, only hitting two of them.
One of them was from Ashlynn Shade, a Noblesville High School (Ind.) alumna. Notre Dame is 0-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Sarah Strong’s most recent bucket, a 3-pointer, marked her 1,001th career point. A sophomore, she is the third-fastest UConn player to reach that mark.
Prior to the milestone in the second quarter, Hannah Hidalgo, who was scoreless in the first quarter, put up her first points of the game with a layup.
End of 1st quarter: UConn 17, Notre Dame 6
The Irish didn’t hit a shot from the field until Cassandre Prosper’s layup with 3:58 left in the first quarter, and Notre Dame’s offense built on that in a small way with scores from Malaya Cowles and Iyana Moore to follow. However, the Huskies have outclassed Notre Dame on both ends so far, with sophomore Sarah Strong already boasting five points and six rebounds.
Hot start for the hosting Huskies
UConn leads Notre Dame 8-0 at the first timeout of the game with 7:07 left in the first quarter. Serah Williams, a transfer from Wisconsin who won the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award with the Badgers, leads all scorers with four points.
The Huskies have an assist on all four of their baskets. The Irish are shooting 0-for-4 from the field, including two missed shots for Cassandre Prosper.
