Perhaps the biggest science celebrity since Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson is an author and media personality best known for making complex science subjects accessible and understandable to the average audience, particularly in the realm of astrophysics.

He authored the best-selling guide “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry,” previously hosted PBS’ “NOVA” series, and leads the popular podcast and talk show “StarTalk.” A born-and-raised New Yorker, Tyson is also director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan.

When is Neil deGrasse Tyson coming to Bloomington?

Tyson will deliver his lecture, “An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies: Part II” at the IU Auditorium on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Tyson promises to be a harsh, but humorous skeptic in the face of “movie magic,” analyzing and occasionally debunking the science behind iconic films like “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “A Bug’s Life,” and more.

The wide-ranging lecture will cover both newer releases and movies you’ve never even considered the science of, from the absurd physics of “Mary Poppins” to “The Wizard of Oz.”

How can I get tickets for Neil deGrasse Tyson’s talk at Indiana University?

Tickets for Tyson’s lecture are on sale now at the IU Auditorium box office and on the IU Auditorium website, through TicketMaster. Tickets purchased online are subject to additional fees.

Ticket prices range between $58 to $99 based on seating location. Discounted tickets for IU students with valid photo ID are available starting at $30.

The IU Auditorium box office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
