MCCORDSVILLE — Police posted 7:45 p.m. Monday that missing 14-year-old Addyson Strange has been found and is safe, but did not give details of her whereabouts the past three days.
“We are grateful to share that Addy has been located and is safe,” McCordsville Police Department posted Monday night. “As this remains an active investigation, no additional details can be released at this time. Thank you for your understanding and continued respect for the investigative process.”
Addy, an honor roll student and track athlete, had last been seen 8:40 p.m. Friday, July 24, near the Stanley Chevrolet in McCordsville. A search party spent the day loooking for Addy Saturday. On Sunday, two prayer vigils were held for the missing teen.
“Thank you to the many law enforcement agencies (both local law enforcement and federal law enforcement) involved in the search,” McCordsville police said, “and to everyone in the community who shared information, offered support and helped spread the word.”
Sunday update from Addy’s mom
Addyson Strange’s mother posted more clues Sunday in the search for her 14-year-old daughter who was last seen in McCordsville Friday at 8:40 p.m, including that she was likely wearing a light gray or light blue, ribbed, fitted T-shirt, dark shorts and white Brooks sneakers.
While Addy has blonde hair, her mother, Liz Lindsey Strange, said Addy’s hair would have likely been in a ponytail, “which may make it appear darker blonde.”
“She is in excellent shape and a runner, so she could have covered a lot of ground at this point. We last tracked her scent just north of the Stanley Chevrolet dealership in McCordsville,” Liz wrote. “We believe she may be headed to Muncie, but this is a best guess.”
Stanley Chevrolet is located at 5697 W Broadway and sits at the intersection of State Road 234 and Broadway, which is State Road 67. Liz believes Addy may have used SR 67 as her route toward Muncie, which is 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Police are asking businesses near Stanley Chevrolet to review surveillance footage on their cameras.
A search party in Addy’s case amassed Saturday, canvassing the area from Oaklandon to Muncie and north to 116th Street and Olio Road in Fishers.
“We have had very few leads, but it hasn’t stopped us,” wrote Liz. She asked people who want to help find Addy to start in their own neighborhoods, knocking on doors, handing out flyers and asking if anyone has seen Addy on their outside cameras.
“Every share increases the chances that someone will recognize Addy and help lead investigators to her,” Liz posted. “If you are in Indiana or surrounding states, please take a moment to look closely at her photo and share this post. Let’s help keep Addy’s face in front of as many people as possible until she is safely home.”
Details of the Addyson Strange case: ‘She’s funny, witty, energetic’
Indiana State Police issued a statewide Silver Alert for Addy on Saturday, who was last seen 8:40 p.m. Friday night in McCordsville, about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis, according to McCordsville police.
Addy is a white female, 5-3, weighs about 130 pounds and has blonde hair and hazel eyes. Police say Addy is believed to be in extreme danger and could require medical assistance.
“Our daughter, Addy Strange, has been missing …,” her mother posted to Facebook at 5 a.m. Saturday. “She is on foot and we believe her to be in danger. Please contact 911 if you see her.”
Hayden Bailey of McCordsville, who had Addy as a student and as part of her church’s youth group, posted to Facebook Saturday.
“She is super sweet and so kind to everyone,” Bailey said. “Please pray she makes it home swiftly and safely.”
Addy’s teacher at Mt. Vernon Middle School, Kyle Benbow, said “Addy is a funny, witty, energetic young lady.”
There were plenty of days when Benbow and Addy would joke around, comparing who had on funkier socks. (Benbow is no relation to the IndyStar reporter.)
Addy ran track at Mt. Vernon and just finished her eighth-grade season. She will be a freshman at Mt. Vernon High School in the fall.
Those who know Addy say she is a star student and welcoming to everyone. In April 2026, she was named to the eighth grade all-A honor roll.
In May 2025, Addy was named student of the month at Mt. Vernon for “behavior (that) not only enhanced their own educational experience but also inspired those around them to act with greater kindness and understanding.”
‘Everyone is welcome:’ Addyson Strange prayer vigils Sunday night
A prayer vigil for the safe return of Addy was held Sunday in McCordsville.
“Our community is hurting as we continue to pray for the safe return of Addy Strange,” McCordsville United Methodist Church wrote in its post about the vigil. “Whether you know Addy personally or simply want to stand together in hope and prayer, you are welcome.”
The prayer vigil for Addy was 7 p.m. at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.
“Together we will pray for Addy’s safe return, strength and peace for her family, wisdom for law enforcement and search teams, comfort for our community. Everyone is welcome,” the church wrote in its post. “Please continue to share only verified information from law enforcement and keep Addy and everyone involved in your prayers.”
Another prayer vigil for Addy happened 7 p.m. Sunday at New Life Christian Fellowship, 1574 W. St. Rd. 234 in Fortville.

Hailey Buzbee, missing Fishers teen, found dead in February
Seven months before Addy went missing, another Indiana teen disappeared. The case of Hailey Buzbee, 17, of Fishers, quickly went viral as it was shared across social media by creators on platforms like TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
Hailey’s parents last saw her at 10 p.m. Jan. 5, 2026, at their home in the Enclave at Vermillion Neighborhood, off of 101st Street in Fishers, about nine miles from where Addy was last seen.
Officials believe Hailey left her house in the early morning hours of Jan. 6 between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., and technology later helped them confirm 39-year-old Tyler Thomas picked Hailey up in his Acura with an Indiana license plate.
The initial investigation into Hailey’s disappearance by the Fishers police expanded to other agencies, including the FBI, Indiana State Police, Columbus Police Department and the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio.
Police believe Hailey died within days of being picked up from her home by Thomas, who drove her across state lines.
Based on federal court documents, Thomas communicated with Hailey on Session, Discord and Snapchat. He was also found with sexually explicit material depicting underage girls, including Hailey, on his phone.

What is a Silver Alert?
For a Silver Alert to be issued in Indiana, “the person must be a missing endangered adult, missing endangered child, high risk missing person or have a mental or medical impairment validated through a credible medical authority,” according to state law.
“There must be enough descriptive information to believe the broadcast will help. The request must be recommended by law enforcement agency of jurisdiction.”
