It’s always interesting when a recruit makes a change during his high school years, and for one of Notre Dame’s 2027 commits, he’s going from a top team in the region to arguably the top one in the country.
New Jersey edge Jackson Vaughn has done plenty of moving, having reclassified from the 2028 class, and now he’ll move high schools according to a report by On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 225-pounder will be transferring from Bergen Catholic in his home state to Florida powerhouse IMG Academy.
It’s a move that should be applauded, as many that have played for Vaughn’s new team have arrived on their respective college campuses ready to compete right away. Notre Dame has made a monster footprint in the state during the 2027 cycle, and this could only be good news for the Irish to continue to recruit Florida hard. It will bring the coaching staff down to IMG, where they’ll not only be able to see the top roster that Vaughn is now joining, but other top players in the state.
Last fall, IMG went 9-0 and once again has a schedule that looks like a college one, facing teams all across the country including a game against Indiana’s own New Palestine. Personally, I love the move for Vaughn, as he’ll get the chance to face off against multiple top level prospects, while getting some of the top coaching at the level. If he has a big senior year, expect a ranking bump and potentially returning to the 5-star status he once held.
