Man dies of apparent gunshot wounds after 3 a.m. report of shots fired in South Bend

SOUTH BEND — A male victim died from apparent gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 26 on South Bend’s northwest side.

Around 3 a.m. July 26, South Bend Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3900 block of Sheridan Plaza, where officers found the victim, Donovan Russell, 25, who died at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for July 27 in Kalamazoo.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate the case.
