If you can stand one more day of the above-average heat and stifling humidity, you’ll be rewarded the rest of the work week.
That’s according to the National Weather Service, who has placed most of the Tri-State under a heat advisory for Tuesday, July 28.
Here’s what forecasters are saying about the weather.
Heat advisory in effect Tuesday
It’s going to feel gross outside on Tuesday. As of 8:30 a.m., the heat index already had climbed to 93 degrees, and the National Weather Service said it would approach 105 degrees later on in the day.
That’s because the high temperature for the day (91 degrees) will combine with oppressive dewpoint levels (upper 70s) to create absolutely stifling conditions.
The heat advisory lasts through 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
But there’s good news for the rest of the week
What the weather service describes as a “modest” cold front will move through the region Tuesday night, which should knock temperatures down a few degrees each day through Friday.
The bigger change will be a lowering of the humidity levels. Those upper-70s dewpoints will fall back into th emiddle 60s, creating a much more normal summertime feeling in the Tri-State.
Rain chances return for the weekend
By the time the work week ends, another storm system will be moving toward the region, with rain chances kicking in Friday night and lasting through Sunday.
The weather service considers rain “likely” on Saturday.
