Justice delayed is justice denied
The Monroe County Prosecutor’s (Erika Oliphant’s) failure to timely prosecute a former IU football player accused of two separate rapes is not just incompetence — it’s a public disgrace. Any private attorney who mishandled charges this serious would be fired. But because this prosecutor is an elected official, she remains insulated from consequences.
This isn’t a close call. It’s a gross dereliction of duty that puts community safety at risk and sends a dangerous message to survivors: your trauma will be ignored if the accused has the right status or timing. Justice delayed is justice denied — and in this case, it’s been deliberately deferred for reasons that have never been adequately explained.
The people of Monroe County deserve a prosecutor who treat violent crime with urgency, not political caution. We should all remember this fail.

One question
I would like to know whether Gov. Mike Braun appointed James Bopp to the I.U. Board of Trustees because, or in spite of, Bopp’s key role in Citizens United, the 2010 Supreme Court ruling that has flooded our elections with dark money and sold them to the highest bidder on the absurd judicial notion of corporate personhood.

No kings here
It seems to me we already have a “No Kings Day.” It’s called Independence Day, July Fourth. If we had a king like King George 250 years ago, you wouldn’t be allowed to have such a protest. But we don’t! We have a president, and therefore you have the right to protest peacefully, not “mostly peaceful.” So, protest away, but perhaps pick a new name for it. Happy 250th birthday to the U.S. Army for providing us Independence Day!
