The Notre Dame football season is extremely close to starting, and you can now add a former Ohio State player as one who believes in what head coach Marcus Freeman has built for this fall.
Kirk Herbstreit, the former Buckeye quarterback and current ESPN College GameDay analyst and color commentator joined the Pat McAfee Show to discuss who he thinks will win the College Football Playoff. After some back and forth with the panel, he landed on the Irish taking the crown.
Other picks were Oregon, Ohio State and Miami, who Herbstreit also mentioned as a team that he is very high on as well. He went on to say that CJ Carr is “the real deal” as the preseason hype for the starting quarterback grows. It will be very interesting to see who Herbstreit ends up picking when the Hurricanes and Irish face off in early November.
Regardless of that outcome, he thinks that both those teams have the potential for a rematch in the championship game, one that would be a great conclusion to the home-and-home series that Notre Dame and Miami have had the past two years.
