Authorities are investigating the death of an Indianapolis woman who was found unresponsive in a holding cell within hours of arriving at the Boone County Jail.
Brittany Moore, 33, was booked into the jail at around 7 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
Corrections officers found Moore unresponsive at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 3. Despite medics’ interventions, Moore was pronounced dead.
Moore’s cause and manner of death will be determined by the Boone County Coroner’s Office. A preliminary forensic investigation performed on Feb. 5 found that Moore’s death “was not a result of any traumatic injury.” Additional lab testing will be required, the coroner said.
Her death will also be investigated by the sheriff’s investigations division, said Sgt. Tyler Moriarty, a public information officer for the department.
