Diamond Dandies: Here is the IndyStar All-Freshman baseball team

These Class of 2029 baseball players performed well in their first taste of varsity baseball.

First Team

Aiden Carroll, Brebeuf Jesuit

Carroll batted .382 with 13 RBIs, 13 runs scored and one stolen base. He walked six times and struck out six times.

Chase Holmes, Zionsville

Holmes batted .340 with six RBIs, 13 runs scored, four doubles and four stolen bases. Holmes walked four times and struck out just three times in 21 games.

Braxton Kellermeir, Avon

Kellermeir batted .323 with 16 runs scored, 10 RBIs, two triples and six stolen bases. Kellermeir walked 21 times and struck out 21 times, and he finished with a .963 fielding percentage (one error) over 31 games.

Sam Kriner, Roncalli

Kriner batted .344 with 15 RBI, 26 runs scored, one double and 19 stolen bases. Kriner walked 12 times and struck out just eight, and he finished with a .959 fielding percentage.

Keagan Linder, Tri-West

Linder went 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 33⅔ innings. At the plate, Linder batted .256 with 17 RBIs, 12 runs scored, six doubles and six stolen bases.

Jacob Linton, Lebanon

Linton batted .390 with 19 runs scored, 22 runs scored, three doubles, three triples, two home runs and 10 stolen bases

Isaac Marshall, Heritage Christian

Marshall batted .324 with 32 RBIs, six doubles, three home runs, one triple and six stolen bases.

Levi Welty, Mooresville

Welty batted .375 with eight RBIs, eight runs scored, one double and five stolen bases. On the mound, Welty went 4-3 with a 3.20 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 35 innings.

Christian Wessel, Avon

Wessel batted .326 with 28 RBIs, seven runs scored, six doubles and two stolen bases. On the mound, Wessel went 4-3 with a 2.72 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 56⅔ innings.

Second Team

Noah Adams, Lebanon

Adams went 2-0 with a 4.73 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 23⅔ innings. He walked just 12 batters.

Conner Beam, Eminence

Beam batted .312 with three RBIs, seven runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Beam made just one error in 11 games.

Leland Cope, Ben Davis

Cope batted .302 with six RBIs, four runs scored, one double and four stolen bases. Cope added 16 strikeouts over 16 innings on the mound.

Henry Cherry, Fishers

Cherry moved into the starting lineup late in the season for the Tigers and finished with a .159 batting average with four runs scored, seven RBIs and two stolen bases. Cherry made just three errors (.954 field percentage) in 25 games.

Fletcher East, Franklin Central

East batted .204 with seven RBIs, one double, one triple and two stolen bases. On the mound, East went 2-2 with a 3.87 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 25⅓ innings. The freshman finished his first varsity season with a .927 fielding percentage.

Jack Herrin, Greenfield-Central

Herrin batted .240 with four runs scored, four RBIs, and one double. On the mound, Herrin finished with a 1.62 ERA and struck out six over 4⅓ innings.

Brody Herrmann, Shortridge

Herrmann batted .343 with 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored, four doubles, one home run and six stolen bases.

Kole Kessler, Lapel

Kessler batted .333 with 13 runs scored, 12 RBIs, three doubles, one triple and four stolen bases.

Cayden Rokicki, Bethesda Christian

Rokicki went 5-0 with a 3.90 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 23⅓ innings.

Nolan Smith, Park Tudor

Smith batted .279 with eight runs scored, seven RBIs and two doubles. On the mound, Smith struck out five and allowed four hits over 4⅓ innings.

Ryan Smith, Purdue Poly Broad Ripple

Smith batted .310 with 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, one double, one home run and seven stolen bases.
