INDIANAPOLIS — Jack Harvey asked for it. The Fox pit announcer at the IndyCar race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course asked comedy icon David Letterman for career advice.
While roaming the pits for pre-race interviews, Harvey blew by Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver Graham Rahal — who started the race second — to get to Letterman.
Letterman praised his team, which had three of the first six starters, Harvey asked Letterman for announcing career advice.
“I think you’ll need to continue wearing a helmet,” Letterman said.
“I don’t mind that. That’s a good answer,” Harvey said.
Rahal chimed in, saying he thought Harvey is doing well with a microphone.
Harvey has probably heard that kind of humor before. He has driven for RLL. Harvey is scheduled to drive for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the Indianapolis 500 on May 25.
