Austin Ajiake’s tenure with the Colts

Ajiake was signed to the Colts’ practice squad late in the 2023 season. After spending 2024 on the practice squad, Ajiake spent the bulk of the 2025 season on the 53-man roster.

Recapping Austin Ajiake’s 2025 season

Ajiake played 296 special teams snaps, contributing to five of the six different phases. He finished third on the team in snaps and was tied for first in total tackles. Out of 211 eligible players league-wide, Ajiake ranked 68th in PFF’s special teams grade.

Defensively, Ajiake played 157 snaps on the year, coming off the bench. He made 14 tackles and held pass catchers to 7.7 yards per reception.

Looking ahead to 2026 for Austin Ajiake

At least based on what was reported, Ajiake wasn’t one of the linebackers who saw snaps with the starters during offseason programs. That said, he could certainly earn a roster spot once again as a core special teams contributor, who has experience off the bench in Lou Anarumo’s defense.

CJ Allen, Bryce Boettcher, and Akeem Davis-Gaither will be on the team, which leaves one or maybe two roster spots up for grabs. Ajiake’s experience on teams can be a differentiator for him as that competition unfolds.
