Colts initial 53-man roster on older side compared to rest of NFL

The Indianapolis Colts’ initial 53-man roster is on the older side compared to the rest of the NFL heading into the 2025 season.

Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice recently ranked each NFL team by the average age of their roster after cutdowns.

The Colts’ average age on their roster is 26.26 years old. This ranks 19th in the NFL–or is the 14th-oldest roster this season.

The Colts have 14 players on their team who are 29 years or older, which is the sixth-most.

This offseason, we saw GM Chris Ballard take a more aggressive approach when it came to how he built out his roster. And with that came a number of veteran additions, including Charvarius Ward, Cam Bynum, Xavien Howard, Neville Gallimore, and Joe Bachie.

This was also a team that already had its share of experience between DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Michael Pittman, Quenton Nelson, and others.

With that said, and as the Colts’ overall ranking suggests, with them being around the middle of the pack, there is a good mixture of youth on this roster as well.

The big question, as we know, is at the quarterback position, but around Daniel Jones is a well put-together roster.
