Chief deputy: Body found in burning vehicle remains unidentified

MUNCIE, IN — A body found in a burning vehicle in southeastern Delaware County remained unidentified on Monday, Dec. 14.

Jeff Stanley, chief deputy for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, said the investigation of the death is continuing.

The Indiana state fire marshal’s office is also involved in that probe.

On Monday, authorities continued to release few details about the case.

About 3:45 a.m. Sunday, emergency dispatchers received a report of a vehicle on fire along Delaware County Road 500 South west of Indiana 3.

“During an investigation, a deceased individual was located,” Stanley said Sunday.

The chief deputy said few details about the case are being released “due to the ongoing nature of this investigation.”
