The 2025 Hoosiers also had a Heisman Trophy winner and many memorable moments during that season. The race to 16-0 included Fernando Mendoza leading a touchdown drive at Iowa, Omar Cooper Jr.’s physics-defying catch at Penn State and Mendoza’s lunge on fourth-and-5 to win the national championship.

The Hoosiers lost many key contributors to the NFL this offseason, but Cignetti and Co. once again attacked the transfer portal hard looking to reload at key positions. Many experts still project the Hoosiers to be near the top of the Big Ten, and reach the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive year. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Hoosiers as 39.5-point favorites in their season opener at home against North Texas.
