Amazon facility proposed in Carmel would bring 30 minute delivery to residents

Amazon this week announced a new facility may be coming to Carmel.

The proposed facility, which would be an Amazon Now delivery center, would provide a 30 minute delivery service for grocery and other products to residents.

The City of Carmel confirmed in a statement to Fox 59 on Monday that it has been coordinating with Amazon representatives to approve a Special Use Application for the facility.

This development is the second Amazon Now facility proposed in Indiana. In April, Amazon announced their plans to build a facility in Whitestown to bring more same-day delivery options to Amazon Prime members in Boone County and Indianapolis.

The Amazon Now facility has been proposed at 12208 Hancock Street, near the corner of Hancock Street and City Center Drive. It would be 7,500 square feet, which would involve renovating a portion of the existing building, according to reporting from the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Once approved, renovations would begin on July 28. While it is currently unknown when the facility would open, IBJ reported that the plan is the 30 minute delivery service would be available sometime in 2026.
