Two people have been arrested in Tazewell County following a shooting in rural Manito.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department arrested Austin Hawkins, 22, of East Peoria and Anna Konakh, 23, of Peoria, in connection with the shooting.
Hawkins and Konakh were both charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm. Hawkins carries an additional charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.
Police responded to a report of a man shot in rural Manito around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department. Police found an adult male inside of a home with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transferred to a Peoria hospital for treatment.
Police say the victim had returned to his home with a female he met earlier in the evening when a masked man came into the home and shot the victim.
