The Winnebago County Fair opens Aug. 13. Here's what you need to know

Thinking of heading down to the Winnebago County Fair? Here’s what you need to know.

When is Winnebago County Fair?

The fair opens this year on Aug. 13 and closes Aug. 17. Gates open at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 and 14 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 15, 16 and 17. The carnival opens at noon each day.

How much does it cost to get in?

Ticket costs vary from day to day with special promotions and pricing on certain days to make attendance more affordable.

General admission is generally $5 or $7 for those 13 and up. Children 8 and under are free every day. Veterans and seniors will get free admission on Aug. 13. Also on Aug. 13, bring two non-perishable, non-expired food items and receive free admission.

When is the Fair Queen and Junior Miss Pageant?

The Fair Queen and Junior Miss Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 in Moss Hall.

When is the demolition derby?

The demolition derby kicks off at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at the grandstand. Admission is $10. Children 8 and under are free.

What other entertainment will be at the grandstand?

Diesel truck races will be 7 p.m. Aug. 13. Illini State Pullers Truck Pulls and Farmer’s Class Tractors show is at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Bulls and Broncs Rodeo will be 7 p.m. Aug. 15. Illini State Pullers, Tractor Pulls will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16. There is an additional admission fee for grandstand events.
