PEORIA – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a Wednesday home invasion and kidnapping.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at a residence in the 1700 block of North Linn Street at about 10:56 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that an armed suspect identified as Rodrick R. Adams, 25, had entered the residence with a firearm and allegedly took a female victim from the home against her will.
Officers immediately began investigating the incident and developed information regarding the suspect’s possible whereabouts. With the assistance of a state K-9 unit, officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of North Linn Street, where they believed the suspect and victim were located.
Officers attempted to contact individuals inside the residence but received no response. Based on additional information gathered during the investigation, officers determined that the suspect and victim were likely inside the home.
The Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Special Weapons and Tactics Team were requested to assist. Following an extended police presence at the home, the occupants, including the suspect and victim, exited the home. Adams was taken into custody without further incident. The victim was not injured.
Adams was arrested for aggravated kidnapping with a firearm, armed robbery and home invasion. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
