A Powerball player in Illinois won the jackpot Wednesday night, cashing in more than a billion dollars.
The win comes just two weeks after a Mega Millions player in central Illinois cashed in a $5 million ticket.
Illinois Powerball player wins $1B jackpot
A single ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers drawn Wednesday night, winning the $1.04 billion jackpot. Lottery officials told USA TODAY the ticket was purchased at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois.
Powerball said in a press release the jackpot is the largest Powerball prize won so far this year and the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
The winner is able to choose between an annuitized prize of $1.04 billion (split up across 30 graduated payments over 29 years) or a lump-sum payment of $450.5 million. Both prize options are before taxes.

The winning numbers in the Wednesday night drawing were white balls 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, and red Powerball 9, with a Power Play multiplier of 2.
