PEORIA – Illini Golf is looking to offer alcoholic beverages to patrons at its golf simulator bays.
The Peoria Liquor Commission voted to recommend site approval for a class K rental hall license for the space on Monday, March 9. The matter is slated to go before the Peoria City Council during its March 24 meeting.
Attorney Bob Gates appeared before the commission on behalf of the business, which relocated late last year to the Metro Centre. He said five simulators are situated behind the store’s retail area – which features golf apparel and equipment. The bays can be used for leagues or lessons and can also be rented out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Gates said patrons at the simulators would like to enjoy a beverage during their visit. While this could include water or other non-alcoholic options, he said the storefront would also like to offer packaged beer, wine and drinks.
When discussing hours, Gates said the simulator may offer extended hours based on demand or during popular golfing events like the Masters Tournament. Even so, he said the hours would not “be unusual for that neighborhood,” pointing to neighbors like The Queen of Squash, Johnny Vigs and Jalapenos.
