One Kroger in Illinois is closing as part of nationwide cuts. Find out where, when

A Kroger grocery store in Peoria will be closing in August as part of the company’s plan to shutter 60 locations over the next 18 months.

The cuts will affect about 2% of the company’s 2,731 stores nationwide.

Where is Kroger closing in Illinois?

Kroger is closing one of its Peoria stores located at 3311 N Sterling Avenue, effective around Aug. 2, according to a company spokesperson.

“While we are leaving this location, we will offer each impacted associate the opportunity to transfer to a new location,” the spokesperson said.

Why is Kroger closing its Peoria store?

The spokesperson said, “This closure is part of a larger company-wide decision to run more efficiently and ensure the long-term health of our business.”

The company said it expects “a modest financial benefit” from the closures and pledged “to reinvest” the savings from the closing “back into the customer experience.”
