A new restaurant is preparing to open in Roanoke.
RISE & DINE will fill the space formerly home to The Farmstead, according to an Aug. 30 Facebook announcement.
Kat and Tony Longo will operate the new establishment – which will serve American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. According to the Longos, various gluten-free items will also be available.
Once open, the eatery is expected to operate from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. The restaurant will be closed on Tuesdays.
The Longos said they boast a combined total of “57 years experience in the food industry.” After four years as traveling chefs, the couple “felt it was time to set our roots down.”
During a trip to Roanoke to visit family, the Longos wrote: “We saw a quiet, peaceful community among other things that we fell in love with, we felt this could be our home.”
With encouragement from family, Tony and Kat Longo said they decided to open a restaurant in Roanoke. Now, “with the help of Kyle and Tina Kraft, we are going to do just that.”
The Farmstead closed at the end of June after just over two years in business. An announcement about the closure said the restaurant’s owners planned to retire to spend more time with family.
