Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash in Springfield

A 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a motor vehicle near the intersection of Peoria Road and Sangamon Avenue in the noontime hour on Feb. 18.

The man has not been identified pending notification of his family, said Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon in a news release Wednesday.

The motorcyclist was taken by an ambulance to HSHS St. John’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead by emergency room staff shortly after his arrival.

Allmon said an autopsy has been scheduled.

The death remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Springfield Police Department.
