Mass layoff ahead for Illinois janitorial services and facility management company

A Chicago-based janitorial services and facility management company will lay off 276 workers at the end of this month.

Diverse Facility Solutions, Inc. announced Aug. 26 that the layoffs will take place Sept. 30, according to information provided to Illinoisworknet.com from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity as part of Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act — or the WARN Act.

Located at 1238 Cicero Avenue in Alsip, Diverse Facility Solutions operates in 10 major cities, provides services for 11 airport terminals, and employs over 1,500 workers.

According to Illinoisworknet.com, the “information … does not encompass layoff activity and is not intended to be a proxy for employment or job loss data. Additional layoff activity may be represented outside of an official WARN correspondence, which might not necessarily reflect the company’s final action.”

The Peoria Journal Star reached out to Diverse Facility Solutions by phone for comment on Tuesday, but did not receive a response as of Wednesday afternoon.
