Plans have changed for the old Hampton Inn in East Peoria.
In November, the city reached an agreement with Frontier Hospitality Group to build a new Hampton Inn at 220 Conference Center Drive. That is happening as planned, with the newly constructed hotel set to open next month.
As for the old Hampton Inn, located at 11 Winners Way, the franchise owner had planned to remodel the hotel and it would continue as one of Hilton’s other brands. That is no longer the case, and property is no longer part of the Hilton hotel chain.
Boyd Gaming Corporation, which operates the nearby Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino, purchased the old Hampton Inn from Johnson Peoria Ventures LLC for $3.8 million, according to real estate records.
The hotel has been renamed Par-A-Dice Inn.
“We are pleased to make this additional investment in the Tri-County community,” Boyd Gaming Corporation vice president David Strow said. “It will further enhance our guest offerings and complement our planned modernization of the Par-A-Dice casino facility.”
The former Hampton Inn’s franchise owner, George Johnson, did not respond to telephone and email messages from the Journal Star.
