SPRINGFIELD — A 31-year-old Springfield man was fatally shot late on March 6.
In a March 7 email, Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon did not give the name of the victim, but dozens of people on social media identified him as PK Haynes.
Haynes was taken by ambulance from the 1300 block of East Jackson Street to HSHS St. John’s Hospital after being shot.
He was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m. by hospital staff.
Springfield Police Commander Jared Maddox did not respond to a March 7 email from The State Journal-Register.
Allmon said an autopsy was scheduled for March 9.
The death remains under investigation.
